Fates’ Revenge

I read a lot of mythology while researching my non-fiction books, and was frustrated by the variations in the myths. Each ancient author put their own spin on the stories—changed the parentage of gods, manufactured liaisons, invented conflicts—and basically made up whatever they wanted.

Then it hit me: Why should they have all the fun?

So I started with a mystery near and dear to my own heart—why fate takes one person but not another—and used the framework of the Greek myths to fabricate my own explanation in a contemporary fantasy novel titled:

Fates’ Revenge

Not even The Fates are allowed to change destiny. So when Death kills two CIA drug-smugglers before their time, she cracks the boundary between realities, and turns the world of 1987 into a battleground between two primordial imps. Mushroom trips, mayhem, and mercenaries abound as feuding Olympians, power hungry Fates, and slightly-possessed cocaine smugglers all become pawns in a cosmic game of tug-o-war over the fate of the universe.

I’m letting Fates’ Revenge sit in my desk drawer until I can muster the editorial inspiration to give it another round of revisions. In the meantime, I’m writing a second adult fantasy/adventure novel titled the The Judas Goat. Once that one is ready to ferment in my desk drawer, I’ll clean up Fates’ Revenge and then begin the joyful process of querying literary agents for representation.
