Continuing Actions: Free 9-12 Nov for Veterans Day

Two months ago I made the ebook of Continuing Actions: A Warrior's Guide to Coming Home free so people could read, review, and feel comfortable recommending it to the veterans in their lives. Here's a link to that post: http://www.dansheehanauthor.com/mines-no-seriously-mines/ Here's the second free period: The ebook version of Continuing Actions will be free again from 9-12 November, 2018. Veterans often reunite with each other around Veterans Day, even if only over profanity laden texts. I hope that by offering my book for free, veterans will feel comfortable recommending it to their buddies when those yearly texts lead to more serious discussions about [...]

Marketing Strategy: Reviews

You are probably saying "What?  Why's Dan writing about his marketing strategy on his blog about coming home from war?" Well, because it involves you, that's why. As you probably know, I've just published my second book, Continuing Actions.  Now that the book is available on amazon.com, my efforts shift from production to marketing.  Hence, this post. The most valuable marketing tool available to a self-published author are the reviews posted on the book's amazon.com product page.  These reviews allow potential readers to see what other readers, just like them, thought about the book.  The best reviews give a little background [...]

Interview on “Interviewing Authors” with Tim Knox

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Tim Knox of interviewingauthors.com.  The interview runs about 25 minutes or so and Tim asked some very good questions about my experiences writing. I really enjoyed speaking with Tim and look forward to doing it again when I finally get this second book done... Here's a link to the interview.  Thanks for taking a listen. The Great Blog Hop 2014

Blog Hop: Why Do I Write? Step One: Acknowledge the person & site that involved you in the blog tour I was invited to this blog-hop by David Hazard, director of Ascent. I’ve known David for five years now and used his company’s services for developmental editing, website design, marketing materials, and cover design of my first book, After Action. I’m working with him on my current project and his expertise and suggestions are just as valuable the second time as the first. David and his design team are on the forefront of the evolving world of publishing and can help [...]

Line Of Advance: Literary Journal for Veterans

It's no exaggeration for me to state that writing has positively changed my life.  Writing became the avenue through which I was able to process my combat experiences and deal with the challenges of coming home.  Things I was never able to articulate verbally finally achieved expression through the written word.  For these reasons, I am very happy to post this email from Chris Lyke, one of the founders of Line Of Advance, a non-profit literary journal dedicated to preserving the voices of veterans.  To make this a reality, Chris is soliciting donations via http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/line-of-advance. I have never met, nor conversed, [...]
